Excerpt from the new version of the Statute of the East European Development Institute dated October 16, 2016:
“III. The aim, main tasks, directions and activities of the Institute
3.1. The aim of the Institute is the implementation and protection of social, economic, educational, cultural and other public interests and human rights and the promotion of the development of an open civil, comprehensively protected society on the basis of humanism, the harmonization of socio-economic processes with the interests of environmental protection, the harmonization of societal relations and the study of the experience of different countries of the world, the balance of economic, economic, political and environmental factors, the study of the process of globalization, the relationship between the development of human and society, the features of the socio-political system with the possibilities of minimizing negative effects on the processes of human development.
3.2. The main tasks and areas of activity of the Institute are:
– promotion of research and development of effective scientific and technical, political, economic, legal and social mechanisms to ensure the irreversibility of the processes of democratization and humanization of society, improvement of the socio-economic situation and demographic situation, improvement of the political system and improvement of the environment;
– assistance in the preparation of drafts of normative acts on issues related to the statutory priorities of the Institute’s activity;
– promoting the formation of a civil open society;
– promoting the development of the institute of human rights and freedoms;
– promoting the development of ecological culture as an integral component of modern world culture and the preservation of natural and cultural values;
– promoting the development of international cooperation on issues that are part of the Institute’s spheres of activity;
– exchange of experience between specialists and civil society organizations of Ukraine and other countries on issues related to the statutory priorities of the Institute’s activities;
– studying and summarizing the best national and international experience in the field of sustainable human development and promoting its implementation in practice, in particular, by preparing proposals for authorities at all levels, as well as through direct training of specialists and informing the public;
– creation of favorable conditions for professional and spiritual improvement of the Institute’s members;
3.3. To achieve the goal and fulfill the following main tasks, the Institute:
– organizes and conducts forums, congresses, seminars, conferences, meetings, “round tables”, educational courses, trainings, contests, exhibitions, fairs, presentations, concerts, show programs, schools for exchange of experience on issues related to statutory activity of the Institute;
– creates the information base of the Institute’s activities and the Institute’s library;
– distributes information about its activities, promotes its ideas and goals, through printed publication and the use of all mass media;
– publishes under its own name (the name of the Institute) necessary literature, books and other printed products, as well as on electronic and digital media, on topics related to the fulfillment of the Institute’s goals, main tasks and areas of activity;
– establishes mass media organizations;
– represents the interests of its members in state and public bodies;
– assists its members in carrying out scientific and research works on issues related to the tasks of the Institute;
– carries out independent research in the field of ecology, economy, sustainable (balanced) development, political science, economics, sociology, law, history and other disciplines that are directly or indirectly related to the Institute’s spheres of activity;
– participates in the development and implementation of joint programs with state bodies, other public organizations, charitable foundations, enterprises and organizations of all forms of ownership based on relevant agreements;
– carries out the necessary economic and other commercial activities by creating self-financing institutions and organizations with the status of a legal entity, establishing enterprises in accordance with current legislation.
3.4. International cooperation: The Institute, in accordance with its statutory tasks, has the right to carry out international relations and activities in the manner stipulated by this Statute and the current legislation of Ukraine.
3.5. The international activity of the Institute is carried out through participation in international projects, the work of international organizations, as well as other forms that do not contradict the legislation of Ukraine, norms and principles of international law.
3.6. When carrying out international activities, the Institute enjoys the full range of rights and obligations of a legal entity.
3.7. Institute:
– organizes the exchange of delegations, organizes tournaments, competitions, conferences, exhibitions, fairs with the participation of foreign partners, sends its representatives to participate in relevant events outside Ukraine;
– conducts research together with foreign organizations in accordance with the areas of its activity, publishes their results;
– implements other joint programs and projects with the participation of foreign partners and international organizations, which does not contradict the current legislation of Ukraine.”
